Re: Tyres
Hey guys,
I am planning on changing the rear tyre of my CBR150R in the next few days before making a short weekend tour to Nashik this Friday. Being a cornering junkie, I am considering the Michelin Pilot Street Radial as I have heard a lot of good feedback of the tyre. I have 2 questions and need answers ASAP :-
1) A Michelin dealer has quoted around 5k INR for the PSR. Any other (read better) tyres I should look into? I don't mind spending an extra 1-2k INR if the rubber justifies the difference in price!
2) I have been using a Ceat Zoom 140mm tyre until now. Should I shift down to 130mm or is 140mm okay? Is there noticeable difference in ride quality, mileage, etc. of the 150R due to this 10mm difference in width? Please advise!

Wet grip sucks, in my opinion! I used this tyre for nearly 2k kilometres in the monsoons for highway riding and the wet grip is really confidence shattering!
Dry grip is nothing great either.
I use a lot of engine braking and am forced to rely a little too much on the front brakes. However, it is because of this tyre that I have become a lot more cautious while riding and have really learnt to control my braking even in emergencies.
I'd recommend this tyre to someone who likes to be forced to learn better braking techniques of control. But it isn't a tyre I'm confident riding with. I'd recommend the MRF Radials instead. I've been using one on the front for the past 15k kilometres and it is way more confidence inspiring, although the comparison of a front and rear tyre is really irrational.Last edited by joelgreen; 05-10-2016, 02:16 PM.

Frankly speaking, you might come across 20 to 40k stretch of bad or broken roads each day in Ladhak region and other roads are very very good. I was on Zapper FYI (R15's front tyre) and my friend on Revz on Yamaha FZ which are soft compound though not as soft as Metz. But I feel Pilot Street Radials should take it easily if you drive it sanely. You will definitely miss the fun in twisty roads if you go for Vertigo, don't do that!
I also had this thought. Mostly we will be riding in roads off-road stretches will be less.
What month you went there. May will be more slippery & September will be more crowded & dry.. So going ter on July wont be having serious off roading.

Need advice on Bajaj Avenger 220 Street tyre change
As this is my first post, my warm greetings to fellow xbhpians and respected bike gurus!
I'm planning to change the tyres of my Avenger 220 Street. I plan to do a bit of touring soon and so don't want to take my chances with the stock tubed ones. I also want to upsize my front tyre to a 100/90 one from the stock 90/90 as I feel the front tyre is too skinny for the bike and has inadequate grip (I'm eager to hear from fellow avenger owners on this). I also want to change the rear tyre to a 150/70 zapper vyde, mainly for aesthetic purpose as the stock one has more than enough grip on both wet & dry tarmac.
My queries are:
1) Do I need to do any rim modifications for the tubeless ones? As far as I know the alloys that the Street comes with should allow easy switch to tubeless.
2) Are fitting the sizes mentioned possible without any changes to the swingarm or otherwise? I don't want to tamper with the chassis.
3) Will I see a notable drop in pick up and/or mileage due to the increased contact patch?
4) Tyre suggestions for both front & rear.
Any help is greatly appreciated. You discover wisdom between a full and an empty tank

Re: Tyres
Hi,
My RTR 160 rear tyre had 18 punctures which I fixed reluctantly. Riding it for about 1.2k now.
For the last few days I have observed that the bike tilts to left side at slightly high speeds. I check the rear tyre and observed that the wear marks are not even on both sides. One side has larger contact patch than the other side.
Can this be due to the punctures and the Tyre is loosing its shape?? Should I replace it immediately??
