  • Re: Tyres

    Hi everybody
This is my first post in xbhp.
I would like replace tvs tyres on my bike . They are slippery.
    1. Which are best tyres for Indian rural single roads?
    2. I'm inclined on Michelin or Ceat tyres . which will be good?
    3. Can I use Mrf zapper fy 80/90-17(r15 v1 front) and Ceat zoom tubeless 100/90-17?
My riding will be 80 kms daily, 60% on rural single roads and 40% on good highway.

    Bike: TVS Phoenix 125
    Current stock tyre sizes
    Front : 2.75-17
    Rear:90/90-17
    Rim sizes
    Front: 1.85-17
    Rear: 2.15-17

      Hello Xbhpians,
This is my first post here and looking forward to some help from all you experts here.I have a Pulsar 200ns and i am looking to change the tyres as the eurogrips have run a good 15000 kilometres and are skidding a lot.I have shortlisted the Ceat Xoom XL2[140/70/R17-Rear & 100/70/R17 Front].I mostly use my bike in the city[chennai] and am planning an occasional long trip.It costs around 4200 for the set.Any alternatives?
      thanks.

I am enclosing the links to the tyres:

I believe stock size is 130/70-17 & 100/80-17 for 200ns. And mrf revz series has decent tyres which can offer excellent dry(not off road) and wet grips. They would cost you the same around 5k. Ceat off road tyres are good but not these regular tyres. They lack wet grip.

Why do you wanna go for off size? Aesthetic?

Also try searching the forum there might be answers already.

MRF Zapper FQ 100/80 17 offers very good dry grip and wet grip as well. I have this as the front tyre on my NS. But it might be a difficult to find. For the rear Revz S.

Thanks for the information. But aren't the Ceat tyres good enough for two years use?I plan to sell the bike after that.

Looking at the condition of your tyres, it is time to get new rubber!

What do you ride? ZMA? Xtreme? Unicorn? GS 150R?

                          If it's ZMA, F - 29 psi, R - 33 psi (solo as well as 2 up).

Its a unicorn, but does the ride make any difference? Weight wise too there wont be much difference. Guys at the mrf tyre shop told me 38 and 35 for rear and i've been filling 35 ever since! Thanks for replying

Many people fill 28 and 35, front and rear respectively. IMHO, your ride would be bumpy. However, mileage would be better since a couple of psi don't cause immediate issues. However, a difference of 5 psi (38 rear) can cause suspension problems and eventually hurt your back.

And no, I asked about the bike because I have a Karizma and I know the exact values. Others should also be in the same ball park.
