  • Re: Tyres

Hi all,its time I changed my Honda eterno's tyres. the stock size recommended is 90/100-10, what is the widest tyre one has used on activa or eterno. I Dont mind a minor drop in average kmpl for better grip and handling.

Also snapdeal has a listing of birla tyre for just 918/- that includes the tube as well. Please let me know if its OK to buy tyres online. Also any input on Birla tyres would be very helpful.

      Hi Guys,

Please suggest me good Rear and Front tire for Wet as well as Dry condition for Unicorn. The Stock tire are not good in wet condition. Need to change the tyres in coming week. Please provide your suggestion on urgent basis.

Also whether i can put more wider rear tire in Unicorn? stock tires is 100 90 18.

Hey guyz...My front stock TVS tires are due for change. Crossed 41k with them. Any idea regarding dual compound tires for front. By dual compound, I meant tires like Meteor, Sirac. I know these are rear tires.
I would like to know do we have any such for front tires with 90/90-17 spec.
I tried out Ceat, MRF & Michellin official websites.
Michellin website sucks big time. They dont have the option of selecting front tire or rear tire in find my tire section and always shows results of rear tires.
The MRF website shows some new models but they dont have size spec related information.
Ceat website were perfect and gave all the details even though I didnt find the kind of tire Im looking for.
If none are available then I will settle with MRF Zapper FS or FY. But FY size is 80/90-17 & is tubeless. Mine is RTR-160-H.Edge and it has tube type rims.

Hi everyone. I went to MRF showroom to change my front tires (TT) of my RTR-160 to Zapper FY1(TL-90/80-17"). They quoted 2k for the same. When I said regarding my TT setup as the stock one, he said first to get a "Tubeless Converter"(which is nothing but a air inlet nozzle complete setup), which can be bought from some puntcher shops. I found one and they quoted 280/- at first. When I said I wont buy for 280 they came down to 200/-. Anyway I didnt buy it and thought of collecting more information before buying one.
          My two queries are:
          1. Have anyone used this Tubeless converter. This is the first time Im hearing & when i saw it was kind of that air inlet setup. As per the MRF guy its mandatory to have it before converting from TT to TL setup. Is that so??
          2. What is the actual cost of this convertor. Is it really 200 or more?
          3. Is the price of the tire okay or have they quoted too high?? (BTW I'm from bangalore & I checked the RF showroom nearby Iblur bus stop)

In tube type tire setup the valve & nozzle are fitted in the tube while in tubeless tires (with no tube) the valve & nozzle are fitted in the alloy wheel. I was told that the nozzle & valve are available in different quality. The brass type nozzle costs around 100-150 & the valve costs 10-20 each.

Thanks for the info yaar. The one I saw was not brass type. Atleast it didnt seem like (I believe the brass ones have a different shade rather than metallic paint). This one one looked more like metallic/steel type. One of my friend also said that it costs around 100. I think those guys were trying to take me for a ride.

                Bike is RX 100.
Confused between Mrf mogrip meteor, CEAT GRIPP, Ceat milaze super

Hi Everyone. Some updates regarding my search on tubeless tire nozzle. I dont know if already someone has posted here regarding the same. Anyway I thought it might be useful if share the information I got.
BTW tubeless valve/tubeless nozzle/tubeless convertor the price range is pretty huge (it costs around 20rs-250rs). BTW when I went to enquire about this in some local mechanic shops I could see two types. One is completely rubber type & another one is kind of metallic with rubber fitting in one end. The fully rubberized type is quoted as 100/- bucks. But my concern are they meant for bikes or cycles. Will it be really able to withstand the air pressure of bikes in pretty good speeds? The local mechanic who had only rubberized ones were claiming this is better than the metallic ones & they wont catch rust. Im concerned about its pressure holding capacity while travelling in pretty good speeds.

Adding images of two tubeless nozzles I came across:
The below one is quoted as 100/-rs Im concerned how reliable it is?

Are all theses coming in universal size? Do they have specific size depending on rim size or tire size?
Also can anyone share the pic if anyone has put such a setup in your bike. Atleast I can be sure that Im not buying the wrong one.

The first one is a replacement valve,ie, it will fit the wheel which is tubeless from the factory

The second one is the screw type. This is to convert tube type to tubeless. You should go for this one.

Regarding the price. 100 to 200 is usually for the second type .shops usually quote higher for these

Oh bad luck buddy. I felt I saw one on saturday in his showroom. Anyway you can hit the SP road and try the same.
I had read somewhere regarding one tire dealer in chamarajpet/chamarajnagar.
                          Do search it out.

R15 V2 front tires are 90/80-17"(Zapper FY1), while the older sibling was 80/90-17" (Zapper FY).
BTW stick with your stock tires. They are best you can get. Why change it when you already have the best?
Now if you want to add more adventure (skidding, fish-tailing to name a few) to your rides, you can go with complete TVS tires both front & back (if u know what I mean )...
BTW riding in those crappy tires will make u a better rider bcos you will experience all those bad heart in mouth situations and also will learn (probably the tougher way) on how to do proper braking. Frankly speaking I have run on stock TVS tires for 40k odo and yes Im a spirited rider at times..But then I have dealed to learn the drawback of my tires were margin of error is too less/negligible. Currently Im running on Zapper FY1 at front & MRF-Meteor at rear. This setup has made things more easy to ride.
