Had sent a query to Michelin and got a call from them today. They told that they are not selling any tubeless tyre right now and all Michelins for bikes are only tube type right now.

I am also confused now :P

How does the tyre hold when it encounters gravel on the road?

Any experience of riding on wet roads?

Can you share a picture of the tyre from the front and side on your bike?

You have the 90/90-17 one or the 100/80-17 one?

            • it can hold straight line in gravel, but whatever tyre i have, I wouldnt corner on gravel so i donno how this tyre would hold in that condition, as for wet condition, dint rain after i put the tyre ...will upload pics tomorrow...one thing i can say the quality of rubber is real good, kindoff like soft compound....

Thanks for the info man. I am kindda torn between this Pilot Sporty and the R15 V2 for my front tyre change.

I somehow don't want to go back to MRF, but the fact that this tyre is way cheaper than MRF kindda raises my doubts that it might be a really hard compound tyre. I am fine with a 15K Kms tyre life.

My only other problem with the Pilot Sporty is that its too much of a pure tarmac tyre i.e. more rubber less tread. I am skeptical about how these tyres will hold up in slush and off roads.

                • I searched for zapper fy1(r15 v2 front tyre) throughtout my area, but couldnt get any in stock, infact all the shopkeepers replied the tyre is not coming!!..dont know what to make of it...but somewhere in the net i have seen the price to be nearly Rs 2800-3000, that is too expensive coz I managed to get revz-s(130/70)(r15 v2 rear tyre) for rs3000, which is an amazing tyre by the way..

even i have noticed mrf tyres to be more costly than other companies by abt 250-300 bucks...even the zapper fs cost abt 1850-1900...whereas the pilot sporty is for 1650-1700..dont worry about the price of michelin, its good for rainy or wet condition as we have two treads running perpendicular to the rolling axis..the tyre is soft compound according to my observation....u can understand by looking at the tyre itself, the quality of rubber...

If money is not an issue and u have the tyre in stock nothing beats zapper fy1...thats for sure...

Thanks for the piece of info. Do you think the FY1 will be better than the Pilot Sporty?

I badly need a front tyre ... because of this

This cut has been increasing in size over the past 8 months almost.

Thanks for the pics of the tyre.

                        • happy to be a help to u...and ya fy1 will be better than pilot sporty...but its side wall is slightly lesser coz it is 90/80...so the gap between the tyre and mudguard will increase... it may not be that significant but just saying...Also which tyre r u using now???

                            Any specific reasons why?

That's OK. The R15 rim is wider than the 220. So the final profile formed with FY1 will be different on the 220 than on the R15. Effective side wall height will more than the R15.

I'm using a Pirelli Sport Demon, absolute waste of money this tyre.

                            • @Praful : Using R15s 90/80 will reduce the overall diameter of the tyre and thus a slightly higher speedo reading. For 90/90 the sidewall would be 81mm and for 90/80, it would be 72mm (assuming it is used on same rims) and based on my crude calculations it comes out to be 3% error (I might be missing something here, not sure). I did all this because I was thinking of plonking the same on my RTR180 which also has 90/90 by default.

Anyways please keep us posted when you buy the new tyre, FY1 or PS.

                              • well pilot sporty is very new in market and yet to be fully tested...fy1 is already tried and tested....pilot sporty will be on par with fy1 coz PS has good quality soft compound...braking feedback is good for PS...and as u mentioned the rim width is lesser for 220, then the final profile will be really rounded, right?...that will slightly change the handling we are used to in 220.....I dint have enough money to buy SD.......
