    • Tyre Suggestions for Pulsar 220 DTSi

      Hi Guys,

      first thread in here.

I have been looking for information all over, but somehow not getting the answer which I am looking for. So, thought of asking it here.

I have a 15 months / 40K KMs old Pulsar 220 DTSi. I would like to change its Tyre, as I am not feeling very confident riding it with those Tyres plus I guess there are several punctures in them as well.

Bike initially came with factory fitted normal/IRC model which I got replaced with MRF Zapper after 20K KMs this year.

Both Tyres went fine for around 16-17K KM and after that started feeling little uncontrolled. I am not sure about the typical life cycle of a Tyre, so not sure how long it should go.

Anyway, need to get the Tyres replaced. Both front and the rear one.

      The Tyre specifications are:

      Front: 90/90-17
      Rear: 120/80-17

I guess the type of Tyres are also a deciding factor in mileage of a vehicle. But I am not looking for Mileage. I am quite happy with the current mileage that my bike gives. What I am looking for is the stability. It should give me a sense of confidence, that under most circumstances the tyres will not leave my side.

Any suggestions??? Like brand, models, etc etc... Any possibility of widening the tyres and not loosing on the performance/mileage marks???

      Thanks in advance.
      Abhinav.

if you are looking for stock specification replacements
check out these MRF's which i have used earlier in my p220

120/80-17 Zapper - c ( has Good Braking ) which lasts pretty long

120/80-17 Zapper vyde ( good cornering ) this has little lower life than Zapper c

for the front Zapper fs 90/90-17

you can also try the 80/90-17 Zapper fy the R15 stock front !

First of all dont upsize or downsize the tyres (it leads to unexpecteded results in terms of performance and mileage)

Normal life of a mrf zapper c is 20k kms ir ridden sanely, mine got half finished after riding 6000 kms insanely.

The best tyre options for u are

              1.MRF ZAPPER VYDE 120/80-17
2.Pirelli sport demons 130/80-17 (superb grip but will be a little upsize but wont drop ur performance)
              3.Michellin pilot Sporty 120/80-17
              4.MRF ZAPPER C 120/80-17 (Good wet braking)
              STUNTING IS IN MY DNA

BTW i got my bike's tyres changed along with alloy painting in white colour.

The tyres and prices are as follows
                  1.Front

MRF ZAPPER FS 90-90-17 ...costed 1540

                  2.Rear

                  MRF ZAPPER S 100-80-17 ... costed 1720 (this is the r15 v1's rear tyre)

The rear looks a bit skiiny but is a pleasure to watch when it comes to the tyre grip. (everyone was asking me ki is type ka tyre to pehle kabi dekha nai hai , india ke bahar se mangaya hai kya...:P)

I hope the rear gives good grip, will be able to comment on it once i start riding it, as the head is still with joel
shocked its nt available in kolkata... Dealers haven't even heard of it....

                            • Hi guys,

I have a May 2011 CBR 250R. The stock Conti tyres are really scary on almost any surface other than dry, hot and smooth. Any idea if there are better options available, Indian or imports?

                              Thanks in advance
