Go and get the M45 ASAP,Michelin has stopped the production of M45 and started producing Sirac 100/90-18 for India,New news from tire dealer!

The air pressure in the tyre has been constant and seems there is no leak. The tube was of some local brand....

I would like to explore the option of fitting a Tuff-Up tube (provided by Honda) in the tyre. I understand this will help me deal with sudden deflation occurring due to punctures. Please enlighten me with the pros and cons for this......
Guyz please tell me about the Tuff-Up tube.......can i use that in my tubeless tyre...? Will my worry of instant deflation on puncture be addressed by the tuff-up tube.

          • Honda TuffUp tube is 3.0 * 18 size,So i wont recommend you to put that tube in a 130/70-17 tire.

I heard there is some solution, which you can put in your tube to prevent it from deflating in case of a puncture....something similar to what the tuffup tube does......please let me know.

                • it is a liquid kind of thing, that seals of puntures, you have to put it inside tube. sealin is one such brand.

                  • I am about to change both the front and rear tyres on my ZMA. I have decided to go for Michelin M45 3*18 and M45 4*18 for the front and rear, and have fixed a deal with a dealer too. He quoted Rs. 1650 and Rs. 2100 for the 3*18, 4*18 respectively (one of those "last piece deals", so cant quote the place ).

I had also spoken to some other dealers and almost none had M45s in stock. And they suggested getting the Sirac Street (2.75*18 for front @ Rs. 1700, 100/90 for the rear @ Rs. ~2500). All the dealers who didnt have M45s spoke a LOT about the goodness of the Sirac street tyres. Dont know if Sirac street is actually way better than M45s or whether they were just marketing their goods.

So now, confused between M45 and Sirac streets. If Sirac streets are indeed good, then please suggest suitable tyre size for the same to be used on ZMA. And if any good alternatives, please guide me. My riding will mostly be Bangalore Tarmac roads with good amount of gravel guaranteed because of bad roads, and weekend rides again on tarmac(wet and dry).

PS: Also please suggest Tubeless tyres for ZMA with the suitable size. If TL tyres dont affect the mileage and grip to a very high extent, I might get Tubeless tyres instead. I am not too keen about Pirelli Sports demons as they wear out too quickly (~10k kms?), bit pricey, and affect the fuel efficiency by a good deal because of the weight, please correct me if I am wrong. Again I am looking for good grip on dry and wet tarmac (and maybe tarmac with gravel too if its not too much to ask for. )

The above posts are derived from aggregation of opinions of several xBhp ZMA riders, based on personal experience/common sense. Please be advised that some things might differ from manufacturer's recommendations.

Fitting an 120 section tyre would decrease the accelaration as well as fe, right? Is there any means to counter the decrease in accelaration? Like may be getting a 120X17 tyre istead of 120X18.
Tyres comes in several combination of sizes, profile, compound, weight etc. Some tyres have low profiles. So even if its wide, the overall diameter is small. So acceleration should not be affected as the diameter remains almost same as stock. In some case the tyres are much wider but diameter is smaller than stock. Though low profiles are preferred for performance, they compromize on ride quality. Weight also depends on the construction and compound being used. Performance tyres are usually very light, but will wear out fast. Most of the tyres available locally are meant for durability. Though In India, our choices are limited so you may not get what you want.

Fitting a 120 on Karizma is not a good idea as the rims are very thin. Thin rims will not make a 120 tyre as wide as it was suppose to. It will increase the tyre profile and make the overall diameter slightly bigger than intended. So you need wider rims. A 120 tyre on Zma stock rims will not result as wide as on wider rims like p220 rims. After market rims in India are pathetic, besides you MAY have to make small modification. Wider stock rims are mostly available in only 17" (e.g pulsay 220, fazer). Though this would mean changing a whole lots of things. Since changing rear to 17" will require changing the front as well. This means changing the front forks as well as the entire disk brake assembly. rear sprockets to compensate the smaller wheel, rear drums brakes. Its quiet a project. I still have no idea why Zma/Zmr are still using 18" when most bikes are using 17", even those 1000cc.
