  • Hey guys i gave an RTR Fi both the front(stock: 90/90-17) and rear(stock: 100/80/18) tyres are due for change.
i have almost zeroed upon zapper FS for the front and zapper Q for the rear.

What i wanted to know is are there any other choices for the rear tyre (in 100/18 or 100/90 or 110/80 sizes)?

    1. I have had a lot of punctures and tube issues so i am basically looking for a TL tyre(else i had considered the tubed dunlop Geocruiser).

    2. I mostly ride on clean city streets and highways with minimal pot holes. I also tour occasionally.

    3. Im not much of a cornering freak but due to the rear brake being disk type, i would prefer a tyre that doesnt lock much. Also, i have a phobia of wet roads so good grips on wet roads is a yes-yes.

    4. I had also considered michelins but i heard that they are heavy tyres and wont match the flickabiliy/handling of the RTR. So any comments on that?

Finally, how much does a TL valve cost nowadays? and are there any other changes that i need to do before fitting a tubed tyre on the stock rim?

    Any inputs are welcome.

PS:- If possible, do include the current prices of the choices that are suggested

AFAIK zapper Q is a TT tyre.

      Pirelli SD 110/80 18: Rs 3500/-.
IMO this is the best TL tyre available in market.Amazing wet and dry tarmac grip, not so good in offroading tho.
      4. I had also considered michelins but i heard that they are heavy tyres and wont match the flickabiliy/handling of the RTR. So any comments on that?
Michelin doesn't have a TL tyre for 18inch wheel.
Finally, how much does a TL valve cost nowadays? and are there any other changes that i need to do before fitting a tubed tyre on the stock rim?
No other changes required, you can get a good TL valve for 50rupees.
      Any inputs are welcome.

      • as mentioned above -go for Pirreli Sports Demon tyre in rear or Pirelli MT75 tyres.

but front- don't use zapper FS- instead use R15 front tyre- it has excellent grip in dry and wet roads, superb grip in wet, you fill experience a new found confidence in braking/cornering and highway riding.

        • Hey guys the Pirelli dealer (actually distributor) said I would have to wait at least 15 days for the tyre in kolkata (140/70 r17 for FZ) & also shown me a picture of how it will look like, but now got confused as which one is original.
          1. saw on Xbhp itself (the single tyre)
          2. shown by the dealer (the pair of tyres)
so now my confusion is which is original (1) or (2)

3.5k seems to be a bit expensive to my liking. i have kept 4k(max 4.5k) as my tyre budget.
and the zapper Q not being TL are news to me. dont know why i always assumed them to be TL.
R15 front is 80/90-17 right? what make is it?

btw, is there any thread related to batteries in the forum?

Its very difficult to get a 17inch TL and 18inch TL in 4k,18 inch TL options are less .
                  R15 front tyre is MRF Zapper Y 80/90 17''.
U can follow Lighting thread for info on battery.

                        damn
in that case, i would have to let go of my TL resolution.
One thing that i noticed today is the MRF has listed the Y in the rear tyre section and there is no mention of 80/90 size. so i assume this tyre can only be bought from a yamaha showroom(correct me if im wrong).

Secondly, does it matter if the front and rear tyres are tubeless and tubed types respectively? Say i go for the R15 front and Q in the rear, will it do any harm to handling?

Finally, i discovered that Michelin pilot sporty 100/90-18 is TL type. But apparently people arent happy with it.

So, for the final combo i have 4 options (2 for front and 2 for rear)
Front :- Zapper FS TL 90/90-17
                        R15 front (Zapper Y) TL 80/90-17

                        Rear :- Zapper Q TT 100/90-18
                        Dunlop Geo cruiser TT 100/90-18

                        • If you want highway tire,go for Pilot sporty, remember,This tire wont provide any grip on anything other than roads.

Only Sirac 120-/90-17 is available in 17" size,it will be an overkill for your bike.

Is there any other tire better than this ?
Pilot Sporty will be the best in highways. It is TL tire,But wears out faster.

or should I use Zapper from MRF again ?
If you ride always on roads, then stick to Pilot Sporty.

                          • If you are not going for Off-Roads much.. then dont go for Sirac'...
you can go for MICHELIN M45.. it's a good tyre for your need..

                              • Guys any suggestions for replacement of Front tyre for P150 UG3 front. Been having Zapper for about 50000kms with not even a single puncture.Me totally satisfied with it.The problem is i might sell the bike in few days/months to come. Now because of the rainy season , i dont want to take risk with a flat tyre. But the new zapper tyres is costing anywhere b/w 1700-2000 bucks now.I dont want to invest so much on a bike that will be sold. So if you can suggest any good tyre lesser than the price of zapper , will be appreciated,Thank you
