Anyway , look no further than the michelin SIRAC 120/90 ( which can be used as tubeless though its supposed to be a tube type ). Tried and tested by many 220 owners ( as in - Leh tested ). It offers amazing grip on all sort of surfaces ..
+1 go for Michelin Sirac 120/90-17 on rear,it can offer excellent grip on any condition than any other tire can offer in the market.

Thanks a lot. But is it possible to use it with my stock zapper in the front? I am on a shoestring budget so dont want to spend more than required And also what would be the approximate cost?
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

You can use it,But i think it wont do any good in off roading.. Sirac will cost you nearly 2700Rs (approx, may increase or decrease)

        • Hi Friends,

Need some help in choosing the right tyres for my ZMR. The bike has run around 500km and is due for first service and I'm looking to change the tyres during the first service.

I had gone through many pages on this thread but couldn't conclude a particular model!

I guess M45 is good.. but i understand that it is a tubed tyre and is used as tubeless. What If I use it as tubed? Will there be any issues? I use the bike mostly to commute to office and travel around 500-600KM/Month on city roads(hyd). Also can I sell my used tyres?

So it would be great if you can suggest me some good tyres. Also I prefer stock replacement tyres (Prob little wider tyres are preferable without any cutting). It would be great if someone can suggest me a reliable shop in Hyderabad.

          • Guys ma front tyre vobbles ..
after filling air and riding for few kms the front tyre pressure comes down ..it losses 1-2 points auto in a day and in 3 days -5 points and i feel ma front part to get heavier.....
i think the cause is the tyre or it can be something else ??? There are no rim bends...
I have 3 punctures at the front tyre ...2 are on side walls of tyre and one in between.. and i have notice tht the puncture seems to be worned out seems a space exits..

i think its bec of this ma tyre losses air..

im planning to buy a new tyre this monday ..

plz recommend some good tyre (Front)..(URGENT)
            Budget Rs 1500-Rs 2k max...

Will these be a direct fit on the Karizma ?

You can go for MRF Zapper FS 90/90 which are stock tyres on the P220s.

You can use these in your Pulsar 220:

                  MRF Zapper FS 90/90x17
MRF Zapper FY 80/90x17 (this is a softer compound, so be aware)

You can get any of these tyres for around Rs. 1400-1500 if you're looking at the right place!

sorry for the short terms, but i am used to it..
will avoid as much as possible.
                    sorry again..

Apart from MRF are there any better options ?
Better means in terms :- Grip vise / Handling.

bro since its a DTS-i ! its tall geared than the FI ! again with sirac , it losses out the acceleration and topspeed ! which result in lot of stress to the engine ! lot of heat and milage drop etc !

bro even my fi 220 runs with sirac rear ! if you go for sirac as the rear and your bike have runned 15k kms ! so there may be a replacement for the chain ! go for the sirac and pulsar 200 or even fi 220 sprocket ! so that you 220dts-i will run healthier !

Well you got your concepts a little mixed up there my friend ..
Youre right , the dtsi is taller geared and there is drop in acceleration but there is a corresponding increase in top speed. And this produces LESS strain on the engine theoritically .. But the tire wear depends more on usage pattern rather than on such a small difference in gearing.

And I got my chain and sprocket kit replaced recently ( yes it wore out prematurely too ). So what Im planning to do , go for SIRAC rear which makes the bike taller geared and change to the fi's rear sprocket to cancel out some of the taller gearing when i have the money ( student , so funds are only through pocket money. Besides , ive saved up for joels FFE ).

But if one is changing the rear tire to sirac purely for touring purposes , i would suggest that you stick to the stock sprocket. you wont feel the acceleration drop on the highway. That way , the slightly taller gearing will give you better speeds at a lesser rpm and reduce the strain on the engine on a long trip. Hence , in theory, a marginal increase in FE as well ..

                                Pros:
                                • Nitrogen reduces the running temperature of the tyre. The moisture content of nitrogen leads to a cooler running tyre, which is advantageous when the car or bike is operating at its maximum load and speed capacity.
                                • Nitrogen in tyres improves the ride quality. That gas is very slightly lighter than air and thus, benefits the tires in terms of un-sprung weight.
                                • It is assumed that Nitrogen increases tyre life. It reduces the operating temperature during times of load and speed and thus, enhances the life of a tyre.
                                • It is believed that nitrogen keeps tyre pressures more constant. The gas is assumed to provide more stable pressure range in connection to the tyre temperature. However, again, the factor is applicable in times of heavy load/high-speed conditions.
                                • Tyres are susceptible to loss of pressure as a result of being porous in nature. Due to its chemical structure, Nitrogen leak out slowly as compared to compressed air. Therefore, it slows the rate of pressure loss.
                                • Oxygen reacts with the tyre and rim materials causing oxidation or the rust formation in the metal parts. Nitrogen, being an inert gas, does not react with the tyre and rim materials.

                                Cons:
                                • Inflating tires with Nitrogen is quite costly.
                                • Filling tyres with nitrogen requires more maintenance as compared to compressed gas.
                                • The availability factor is the biggest disadvantage of inflating tyres with nitrogen, as the gas is not readily available. It is usually found only with specialist tyre dealers.

                                • Generally it is not that much advantageous in case of commuter bikes. Moreover 78% of air is itself nitrogen. It is advantageous only in case of Formula cars, High speed racing cars & motorcycles & High load carriage vehicle
