MRF revz is sold for 3,700 instead of initial cost of 2,400 due to shortage and the other option is Pirelli sports demon that I didnt find in Hyderabad... Any advice or help??

      • Guys - i know there are a lot of posts regarding the best tires for p220 but im posting again to be completely sure -

Ive done 14k kms on my 1 and half year old p220 dtsi and the tires have worn out a lot !! Planning to change them at the 15k kms service.

Just fyi - I do a lot of touring with my buddies in the form of random 200km day trips every now and then and a major trip like once in 3 months.

I definitely want to go for a 100/90 front tire and preferably a 140 section rear. Main objective is to get a more planted feel while cornering and at high speeds.

Stock tires are 90/90 zapper fs front and 120/80 zapper c rear. They have done a fantastic job so far but i want better tires

Im looking at the following options : btw - I definitely want tubeless tires.

        Front:
        1) mrf revz 100/90 ( fz's front tire but availability seems an issue )

looks like this is the only 100/90 tire i know of other than pirelli SD. But i dont want to spend so much. So any other options ??

        Rear:
        1) zapper q 140/70 ( im not sure if its tubeless though - there is no indication if it on the mrf website. if its a tube type tire then im not considering it ).
        2) zapper vyde 120/80
        3) michelin Sirac 120/90 is the only tube type tire i am considering becuase its the most recommended rear tire for p220. Only 5 % chances that i will go in for this.
        4) worst case - back to zapper c ( its a great tire but i want a change .. im bored of the stock tire )
Again - pirelli sport demon is out of budget

My choice is 100/90 revz front and 140/70 zapper q rear.
But if zapper q is tube type then 120/80 vyde rear.
What do you guys feel ?

They are surely better than stock, big improvement in stopping distance more confidance also, tail keeps in line with front when braking hard.
Please note pilot sporty shows tag as tt/tl means can be use both as tubeless and tubetype
PILOT Sporty is designed for different usage conditions compared to M45/ M62. It is meant for usage on city roads and highways with a better braking distance than SIRAC Street / M45/ M62. The tyre is not designed to give best grip on gravel.

A little guidance to members from a Tread pattern design point of view. For extremely flat & Smooth surfaces Slick tyres ( without any patterns ) are used ( Eg. in MotoGP ). On the other extreme end - Off Road conditions, Block patterns are used which have good holding capacity on uneven surfaces. M45/ M62 is a block pattern which can be used for city riding with some uneven surfaces. Pilot Sporty is a sportier pattern used for pure city and highway use not meant for gravel/ off Roads.

Hope this helps in making a wiser choice of tyre depending on your usage.

          Cheers

            • Good Afternoon Guys,

I have been following htis thread for past two days and yet couldn't complete reading all the post by the members..

              I own a CBZ Model 2000, and I have a query.

At Present I am using MRF Tyres for my bike. My Front tyre got dried up and now I have tried for a claim which fortunately they have accepted it (They have rejected my claim earlier 2 months back & now accepted when I have written a mail to MRF HO Chennai) So my bikes front tyre is giving me grip problem and as of now its having 2.75-18 MRF ZFV.
The MRF guys have told me that the ZFV is no more in toproduction, and they can't provide the ZFV since the dealers too don't have it. They are offering me FS and the value would be calculated on a pro rata basis viz is the amount of rubber used by my bike will not get discounted..

Need suggestion - since I prefer a good grip while turning, even though I don't do any wheely or take sharp turns, it should be good during rainy season, since roads gets very skiddy over here in mumbai...

FS - I would get at a lower cost due to my claim

or any other suggestions are welcome...

Please note this is my first post on this forum and have joined it 2 days back.. a lot of ppl would recommend me to read all the post over here... and I have tried to do so.. the more I read the more I am getting confuse.. So Guys please help....

michelin sirac is the best dual purpose tire. And tt stands for "tube type"

Zapper fs is a FANTASTIC front tire. Another option is the front tire of r15. Its also a zapper but i forgot what its called. Both are soft compound and have excellent grip in all conditions. I have a p220 and it comes with zapper fs front and im damn happy with it. Of course , it wears out pretty quickly

The answer is in your post itself..

Anyway,I am thinking to change the stock SHRICHAKRA tires of my RTR180 with the one that comes with the Ninja250(front)-IRC Rubber that is...Presently,I could not find a single tire in stock. Is it a good fit by the way? The only other option I am left with is the Zapper(don't know what's it called) that comes shod with the CB-Dazzler.I have no problems going for a size notch higher than the stock(110 for the RTR)..Are there any good tires like, Michelin,Pirelli or any other good brand in the price range of under 3k?

I am most concerned about the grip of the tire and its cornering abilities as I had recently crashed my bike because of these missing attributes in the tvs rubber!!
If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

If u r heading for off road, I strongly suggest u dont using the FZ... its prone to rim bending unles u use a tyre which is high profile ie ***/80 and not ***/6o.
I have experience off roading n now I own the fz plus i previously got a rim bend..

                    • With the stock tyres of my bike ( splendor+ mrf nylogrip ST plus 2.75x18 rear / ribbed mrf nylogrip 2.75x18 front ) I am experiencing tramline effect on indented roads & nervous handling on bad patches & poor wet handling . We have lots of bad and very-bad patches here in kolkata .

I have decided to replace both stock tyres .... 3.00x18 MRF nylogrip moto C in rear ( for better grip and stability, having used moto c's on my RX I like them !! ) .....& ... 2.5x18 tvs/ceat ribbed in front ( for lighter handle and better acceleration ) , keeping the same PR ratings .

Is it a good idea considering that I am uprating the rear while downrating the front ? Will my front rim take a 2.5x18 at all ? The rear I know takes 3.00x18 alryt .

For offroading into uneven broken and mushy ground you should change to spoke wheels before you change your tyres . Cast wheels will bend or deform and cannot be repaired , also they do not flex .

I do agree but a high profile tyre will certainly be of much advantage than the current 140/60 MRF which is a low profile tyre and strictly intended for tarmac. Plus the high profile tyre absorbs some shocks
