Please refer to my post 6 months back where I have taken the stock rear tyre to be 3.00 18 for the Unicorn as per the data available to me and suggested 3.25 18 as an upsize.

However, if 100/90 18 is the stock size for 2009 Unicorn, a 4.00 18 M45 would be a perfect fit. So a front and rear M45 could be a good option for you.
Hey, thanks for the quick reply...

M45 it is then.. i'm so waiting to get some grip under my bike. A little concern though. The M45 is going to be 1.6mm thicker and the diameter is going to increase by 11.2 x 2 = 22.4mm on paper, right ?

I could maybe remove the chain cover and make space for the 1.6mm. But don't think my swing arm has enough clearance for the extra 11.2 mm. So can you confirm the exact dimensions of the tyre ? I mean are the dimensions exact to the dot ? I will be measuring up the clearance someway to find if the M45 will fit. And i don't want to later find out the 4.00 inches value was an approximation.

                Anyone here tried a M45 on a Unicorn ?

I ride a latest gen Uni and i've heard that the swingarm-tyre clearance varies on each version. Is that true ?

                  Hi Gurumurthy,

I am not sure about where you got your figures, but assuming them to be correct, 22.4 mm = 2.2 cm which is not much and certainly not enough to cause concern over modification of parts.

I am confident that if the stock size is 100/90 18, 4.00 18 would it without any modifications.

About your last question, I would think that this would be best answered by the bike manufacturer.

                      • Meaning of tyre specifications?

I googled for it, but I couldn't get much information.

                        Front - 2.75 - 18'' 4PR
                        Rear - 3.00 - 18'' 6PR

What do these numbers mean? My initial guess is cross-section of tyre and diameter in inches. And R (as per Tyres :: What does the writing on my tyres mean?) means it is rated up to 170kmph. What about 4P/6P?

I apologise if this has been clarified on the thread earlier but I got defeated seeing 198 pages.

No. We do not have that size in India.
