  • Tubeless tyres!!

    Hi dear Xbhp-ians,

I own a Tvs Apache Rtr 160cc. My query is regarding the Tyres. The Tyres from Tvs are the Best I have come accross..the best grip and the best feel on Apache. But still I have this inclination towards Tubeless tyres. So i wanted to know How Better are the tubeless tyres as compared to the regular ones? Is it worth changing the tyres to tubeless ones? and if so what are the advantages and what about the feel!!! its going to change obviously right!!!!

    Thanks,
    newguy1

    • Oversize tyre fitment for gs150

I want to fit a oversize tyre in my Suzuki GS150 . The standard tyre fitted is 100-90/18, instead i wanna replace it with either 110-90/18, 120-80/18 or 120-90/18.

Now, as my bike is absolutely new, which one would be the best fitment normally without anykind of modification (tampering) work done in the swingarm, suspension etc.

How will it affect the bike's suspension , handling & performance ?

Upsizing is always dicy. In my opinion you should wear out the set of tyres you have on your brand new bike and probably think of upsizing the next set. By then you will have a very good idea as to what level of grip and stability you lack and which size would be able to provide that. Just my opinion, in a Brand new bike, keep it stock in every respect till your warranty expires. God for bid if something goes wrong, the reasons these manufacturers can up with are beyond a normal human being's imagination.

If you still wish to upsize, a max of 2 sizes bigger should cause no worries. But do measure and confirm before taking the step. Its a horrible feeling when a tyre scraps the body. All the Best. keep us posted.

yup even i happen to discover but in its place(i.e. the MRS Zapper-S) the new one is MRF Zapper-ZX. And i was left with no other option except fitting it and it costed me 1832/- INR , can anybody tell what was the cost of the prior one i.e. the S type . And could anyone conferm that it is the same soft compound tyre, though the SVC engg. said that this one has more grip , also the threads are more prominent and invokes confidence after you look at them but mm still sceptical .. can anyone confirm

When you get bigger tyres, your bike will be running at a taller gearing(your bike will run at a lesser rpm for the same given speed), there will be slight drop in acceleration(depending on how much you are upsizing) and there will be slight increase in top-end(3-5 kmpl)....also mileage may be affected slightly...
These are only small changes..The major change will be the handling..The bike will feel much heavier and will make riding in heavy traffic little difficult..

                    • Discover 110 tyre air pressure

Guys I have a friend's discover 110 as he is currently out of station. The bike had a punctured tyre last week and I got her a new tube. Now as I don't own the bike I don't have her ownership manual and have no idea on how much air pressure should there be in each tyre.

Could anyone shed some light on this??

                        • Thanks for the approval Aryan. I didn't know that a thread like this existed otherwise I wouldn't have started a new thread and would've posted here itself. Sorry for that and next time I'll be a little careful when it comes to starting threads.

I am not sure but 25 on front and 35 on rear should work fine for any bike.

Thanks a bunch shreeni but I'm not looking for universal tyre pressures. What I'm looking for is the tyre pressure as given in the ownership manual. Anyways thanks for the input.
