    Points from the video -
It doesn't need to rev higher since the meat is at 4-5k RPM.
He also mentions that it does 100-120 kmph at this RPM so if need for speed is not the criteria then this is the bike to go for.
    Butttttttttt!!!
Its still a RE and quality should be doubted by everyone. It's new bike and International models are made of better quality material.
All that torque and power somehow feels missing in the real world conditions for RE.
It will be a fast to get going for sure but some revs later, it'll be caught and passed.

Absolutely right. But i beg to differ. If i recall correctly, he mentioned 100 kmph at 4k rpm and 120 at 5k rpm. It red lines at 7.5k rpm and its power output is at 7100 rpm? Which means, it will still have power up till 7100 rpm.

Which is another good 2k rpm. Which adds to about 160 kmph top speed.

This should make it great to cruise at 120 ish

Quite right. The 100-120 kmph speed range without any vibes & the advantage of ABS would be perfect for most long stretches on our highways.

Re: Royal Enfield 650 Twin Engine Unveiled!

Yes, most likely. My friend's Bonnie Street Twin returns 22-25kmpl on highways for a 900cc without a 6 gear. That's how nicely Triumph has tuned it.

So the Interceptor 650 should easily return 28-33 on highways with that extra 6th gear. And going by the reviews 100kmph comes at 4000rpm and 120kmph at 5000rpm. So should be fuel economical probably.

Re: Royal Enfield 650 Twin Engine Unveiled!

Seems to have got many positive impressions from the ride event. Royal Enfield's one shot to make a more premium, reliable and satisfactorily powerful motorcycle from their current lineup is definitely showing after years of tuning and dedication. They want to begin a new 2.0 brand image with this lineup I believe.

Hopefully the 650 twins live up to this reputation in real world long term rider ownership without too many niggles.

So going by the rumours that this won't likely cross ₹3.5 lakhs OTR, this will easily sell more than 1000 copies a month. Eagerly waiting for the firs time to test a Royal Enfield.

                Cheers!

Re: Royal Enfield 650 Twin Engine Unveiled!

My two cents on this point: RE being primarily dependent on the Indian market to ensure returns on investments, it’s strategy would surely lay priority on the pricing & the fuel economy factors. The ‘kitna hai’ & ‘kitna deti hai’ is like the test of fire that anything that moves in India has to withstand in order to sell in volume. In a way, it’s good - for us customers, that is!

I feel this analysis can give fair bit of idea about pricing.

Not that i am going to buy it. I already have a reliable 650 monster. But yes. To many, it will be reachable and it will sell hot cakes. Provided, the RE service mechanics are trained properly to handle these beasts and these bikes should be reliable.

This point about the access to trained service personnel is spot on. Whatever they price the Twins as, one wonders how long it will be before dependable technicians are ready at dealerships across the country.

I know firsthand from being a Himalayan BS4 owner that even at the company owned SVC at my city there are only a few technicians who are entrusted with jobs on the Himalayan - be it BS3 or BS4.

Such is the situation after approx. two years since the Himalayan has been launched. And the fact is, the Himalayan is just a ‘thumper’ like it’s previous stable mates - though some developments have been adopted in the engine construction.

Now we’re in a fairly large move from RE - parallel twin engines. Add to that slip assist clutch & a few other commendable features.

It’s surely going to be quite some time before the mechanics will get a hang of the new machines.
