No its no more.....my dad used to own a Hero Majestic when XL 50 were ruling......I still remember the days when I used that when he was away and felt the shine on the entire bike.....Unlike TVS this had lots of crome around (Dont remember the part, on the right side there used to be a small drum which is used to be too hot) have experienced the burns because of that....nostalgic.

Can't wait to for the new result to come in!
By the way have you tried emailing TVS company about this project of yours? With them being very interested in promoting racing with their products maybe they might lend a helping hand.
                  When in doubt...... Gas it!

                  • The results: Okay, no phenominal power increase. Did a 88kmph run. Have to find a better patch of road for this place I frequent is no more abandoned

Folks at TVS have done this way back in 1985. There are better performing mopeds which roll during the ROLON championship, and they dont get or rather they wouldnt want any such help from a company, unless it is in the form of funds or spares. I personally wouldnt want any such help, for the fact that it would simply take the fun out of this project

Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Ah yes the fun of wrenching and being a grease monkey just to make your bike go a little faster! How could I forget that? Maybe living in land-of-no-motorcycles-officially has faded away my memories of life as a biker! By the way a jump from 83 to 88 for your ride is no trivial achievement. Heck I would prod my scooty to death just so to make it go beyond 60!
One last stupid question: Have you done or thought about sprocketing?

Apparently, the length between the rear and pulley's sprocket had increased because of the new swing arm. Darn, the chain felt like rock. So had to dash out for another chain. I reckoned that I would atleast need 5-6 links of chain, but I was wrong. All I needed was one single link and it worked I could get the chain to fit. The new CEAT tires adds a nice touch to the ride.

Had to open up the carb and clean out all the muck. Riding without an air filter does have its disadvantages .

Since the OE sprocket had 10 tooth more than the one I am using, the throttle response was something I cant describe. I was guessing the bike would do a sub 65kmph and would saturate, but no, our warrior does 70.85kmph on OE sprockets!!

Just when I and my bro were starting to have some fun, there comes a Pulsar guy, trying to show off. This time around I was tired of being hesitant to petty road side drags and I was the one who had the last laugh this time. All this is stock reeds and small carb. I can only wonder what would be the consequences if I get the Shogun's carb and reeds like the track going ones, Ball$ in mouth !!

                              • I know It is OT but I gotta share this and I dont think any other theread would do justice the amount of passion, detail and love poured in what is other wise considerd a humble machine!

I was checking out this slick Taipei-based magazine Free Biker by editor Qing Chen when I was struck by this beautifully executed Honda Cub(or bajaj M80 as we know it) bobber!

You see we all live our lives dreaming about those absurdly powerful helicopter engine powered Y2Ks or the exquisite guzzis while not realizing the true potential or the beauty hidden inside the underdogs that we common people ride everyday. Heck most of us mortals don't even dare thinking of venturing into modding! And then guys like karthik and Qing come along just to remind us the true spirit of biking is trying our best to go fastest on our rusty old 50XL or achieving that look and feel which we alway wanted!

So, What is hard core? A cub turned into a chopper or a TVS 50 XL hitting 90's is the definition of hard core.
